法務顧問/ Legal Counsel

A leading private investment banking organisation is looking for a Legal Counsel. The selected candidate will advise on legal, regulatory, documentation, governance, and risk-related matters across APAC business activities.

Responsibilities:

• Serve as the main legal contact for business and affiliate inquiries across APAC
• Monitor regulatory and legislative developments affecting financial services, clients, and business operations
• Advise internal teams on product development, trading, sales, marketing, compliance, tax, and regulatory matters
• Draft, review, and negotiate policies, agreements, HR documents, RFPs, filings, and client communications
• Provide legal counsel for board meetings and support corporate secretarial matters
• Manage external counsel engagements, legal budgets, invoices, and cross-functional legal initiatives

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree or above in law from a Japanese or international law school (relevant Master of Law degree is ideal)
• 7-10 years of experience in in-house and/or law firm
• Experience in the financial services industry, preferably in custody or asset management
• Understanding of corporate and financial services activities (including activities of banks, investment managers and brokers)
• Familiarity with relevant Japan statutes, rules and regulations
• Proficient in drafting and presenting written and oral communications and in negotiating complex agreements to completion
• Native level written and verbal Japanese; proficient in spoken and written English
