法務顧問/ Legal Counsel

A global financial institution is looking for a Legal Counsel. The selected candidate will provide legal support on financing transactions, manage legal and regulatory risks, negotiate documentation, and advise stakeholders on banking and finance matters. This is a hybrid setup role.

Responsibilities:

• Provide legal support for financing matters across acquisition finance, asset finance, commodities finance, project finance, trade finance, margin financings, fund financings, corporate banking, secondary loan trading, and M&A advisory transactions
• Prepare, review, negotiate, and approve financing documentation
• Manage, monitor, identify, and advise on legal and regulatory risks relating to financing activities in Japan
• Advise stakeholders on managing and mitigating legal risks
• Monitor and advise on developments in Japanese banking and finance laws
• Instruct and supervise external counsel and manage related legal costs
• Develop and update templates for commonly used agreements and legal documents
• Collaborate with senior management, regional legal teams, and internal stakeholders to support business objectives
• Assist with legal, regulatory, governance, and project-related matters

Requirements:

• More than 6 years of experience as an in-house banking and finance lawyer or in private practice with a leading Japanese or international law firm
• Strong familiarity with Japanese laws, market practices, and regulatory frameworks, particularly in cross-border financing
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment
• Possess a valid qualification as a lawyer in Japan
• Fluent level Japanese; business level English
