Head of Legal and Compliance Asia Pacific

A multinational real estate and investment management firm is looking for a Head of Legal and Compliance Asia Pacific. The selected candidate will lead the regional legal and compliance function while advising leadership on transactions, risk, governance, and regulatory matters. This is a hybrid role.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the legal and compliance function across Asia Pacific
• Advise regional leadership on legal, regulatory, and strategic business matters
• Oversee corporate and client transactions, litigation, claims, and external counsel management
• Drive compliance with global, regional, and local policies, rules, and regulations
• Support enterprise risk management, business continuity, HR legal matters, and governance programs
• Manage regional legal budgets, performance priorities, legal systems adoption, and global legal initiatives

Requirements:

• Admitted to practice in at least one Asia Pacific jurisdiction
• More than 12 years of experience in private practice and/or in-house, in an international, high complexity business
• Experience in investment management and/or asset management
• Prior leadership and people development experience
• Proven experience working within a global legal function and navigating matrix reporting structures
• Professional level Japanese and English

Preferred requirements:

• Prior real estate experience
• Knowledge with multiple Asia Pacific regulatory regimes
