Head of Accounting

A leading education company is looking for a Head of Accounting. The selected candidate will lead group accounting, reporting, statutory filings, audit coordination, technical accounting, and team development in a growing organisation. This is a hybrid role.

Responsibilities:

• Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes
• Oversee consolidated accounting and group reporting across subsidiaries
• Lead statutory disclosures, including 有価証券報告書 and 決算短信
• Manage relationships and communications with external auditors
• Resolve complex technical accounting matters and provide clear guidance
• Improve accounting processes, internal controls, and financial systems
• Build and mentor a high-performing accounting team
• Support J-SOX readiness ahead of a potential listing

Requirements:

• Experience owning statutory disclosure documents
• Prior experience managing or developing an accounting team
• Proven external audit management experience
• Proficient in JGAAP
• Fluent level Japanese (proficient in English is a plus)

Preferred requirements:

• Experience in a listed or pre-IPO company
• Prior IPO experience (J-SOX, disclosure framework, audit readiness)
• Possess valid CPA, JICPA, or equivalent qualifications
