Legal Director

An international technology company is hiring a Director (Senior Legal Counsel). The selected candidate will lead legal, and compliance matters related to HR, employment, and labour in Japan.

Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage legal and compliance issues related to HR, employment, and labour across business operations in Japan
• Partner with HR, Compliance, and business leaders to support business growth from an employment law perspective
• Prepare, review, and maintain employment contracts, HR policies, and related legal documents
• Manage employment-related litigation and investigations
• Oversee regulatory affairs and represent the company in interactions with Japanese authorities
• Manage and coordinate with external law firms
• Lead and collaborate on legal projects with other members of the legal team

Requirements:

• More than 10 years post-qualification legal experience in law firm and in-house legal roles
• Skilled in delivering business-focused legal solutions in fast-paced environments
• Possess a valid qualification and be an admitted/licenced lawyer in Japan or a foreign-qualified lawyer with extensive Japan experience
• Fluent level written and verbal Japanese; professional level English
