Head of Procurement

A global pharmaceutical company is looking for a Head of Procurement. The selected candidate will lead procurement strategy, drive value creation, manage supplier relationships, and oversee transformation initiatives across both direct and indirect spend. This is a hybrid setup role.

Responsibilities:

• Act as the primary procurement partner to country leadership and align global strategies with local execution
• Drive value creation through supplier initiatives and support cost reduction and budgeting alignment
• Lead supplier relationship management including segmentation, evaluation, and partnership development
• Ensure compliance with global policies and manage local risk, audit, and business continuity planning
• Lead procurement transformation initiatives and embed new ways of working across the organisation
• Maintain procurement knowledge repositories and lead communication across stakeholders
• Influence cross-functional teams to drive procurement value and operational effectiveness
• Support organisational design and talent development within procurement
• Support external manufacturing procurement activities including market analysis, sourcing processes, supplier evaluation, and contract negotiation

Requirements:

• Experience in procurement, including strategic sourcing and supplier management
• Experience in leading transformation initiatives and driving organisational change
• Experience working within matrix environments and managing cross-functional stakeholders
• Strong knowledge of procurement practices and experience within the Japan market
• Knowledge in external manufacturing procurement
• Strong communication, stakeholder management, and influencing skills
• Strong analytical skills with experience delivering sustainable change
• Ability and willingness to travel
• Fluent level written and verbal Japanese and English
