プロジェクト開発ディレクター/ Director of Utility Power Projects

A global renewable energy company is searching for a Director of Utility Power Projects. The chosen applicant will lead the end-to-end development of utility-scale solar, wind, and battery energy storage projects.

Responsibilities:

• Lead project development activities for utility-scale solar, wind, and battery energy storage projects across Japan
• Manage a Tokyo-based development team for land acquisition, grid assessments, permitting, and partner collaboration
• Identify and secure new project opportunities through direct land acquisition, partnerships, and market transactions
• Conduct technical, legal, and regulatory due diligence for greenfield and near-ready-to-build projects
• Negotiate land lease or purchase agreements and manage permitting processes with local authorities and consultants
• Coordinate with utility companies on grid connection applications, capacity studies, and interconnection agreements
• Collaborate with EPC, finance, and PPA teams to ensure the technical and commercial viability of projects
• Prepare investment committee materials and provide regular development progress reports to HQ

Requirements:

• More than 10 years of real estate or other relevant work experience
• More than 3 years of hands-on experience in solar PV project development, including land acquisition, permitting, and utility engagement in Japan
• Strong knowledge of Japan’s utility-scale (High Voltage) PV project market and regulatory landscape
• Proven track record of moving projects from origination to RTB (Ready-to-Build)
• Existing relationships with local developers, brokers, and landowners is preferred
• Familiarity with FIT/FIP schemes and Japan’s grid curtailment challenges is preferred
• Native level Japanese; business level reading and writing English (speaking is preferred)
