ローカルF&Aアカウンタント/ Local F&A Accountant

A multinational Contract Research Organisation (CRO) is looking for an Accountant, Local F&A. The selected candidate will manage full-cycle accounting, financial closing, group reporting, tax compliance, statutory financial statements, budgeting, and finance process improvements. This is a hybrid setup role.

Responsibilities:

• Process daily accounting transactions including vendor invoices, payments, bank entries, journal postings, and intercompany transactions
• Maintain accurate records across general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, and payroll-related postings
• Lead monthly and quarterly closing processes under local GAAP and ensure accurate period-end adjustments, reconciliations, and supporting schedules
• Align local financials with group accounting policies, including IFRS where applicable
• Prepare and submit country financial group reports to Headquarters on a quarterly basis in line with the group reporting timetable
• Ensure accurate trial balances, intercompany reconciliations, and variance analyses for group reporting activities
• Prepare and file VAT returns, statistical filings, and other required regulatory declarations
• Ensure compliance with corporate income tax, withholding tax, and other local tax requirements
• Act as the primary contact for external auditors, tax consultants, and local authorities
• Prepare statutory financial statements in accordance with local legal requirements
• Coordinate with external auditors and manage the year-end audit process, if required
• Assist with the preparation and monitoring of local budgets and forecasts
• Provide financial analysis and data to support decision-making by local management and Headquarters
• Maintain documented accounting procedures and ensure effective internal controls in Japan
• Identify opportunities to streamline and improve local finance processes

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree or above in Accounting, Finance or a related field
• More than 5 years of experience in accounting
• Hands-on experience in accounting and finance
• Ability to work independently and manage month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closings
• Experience working in an international environment with both local and group reporting
• Strong knowledge of local accounting principles, legislation, and statutory requirements in Japan
• Good understanding of local tax regulations in Japan
• Experience preparing and submitting both indirect and direct tax declarations
• Professional level English and Japanese

Preferred requirements:

• Experience in a multinational environment
• SAP experience
• Possess a valid CPA, ACCA or equivalent qualification
