シニア会計士/ Senior Accountant

A multinational brokerage and financial technology company is looking for a Senior Accountant. The selected candidate will support financial accounting, statutory and regulatory reporting, tax compliance, financial close processes, and internal controls for the Group’s Japan entities.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare monthly, semi-annual, and annual financial statements in accordance with Japanese GAAP and support Group reporting requirements
• Support and coordinate monthly general ledger close activities, including journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations across multiple legal entities
• Prepare roll-forward schedules and provide variance analysis and commentary to local and Group finance teams
• Support consolidation, intercompany reconciliations, and cost allocations between entities
• Prepare and support reporting requirements for the Financial Services Agency, the Japan Securities Dealers Association, and other Japanese regulatory bodies
• Prepare periodic regulatory returns, including capital adequacy ratio and business and financial reports for regulated entities
• Maintain supporting documentation and audit trails for auditors and regulators
• Coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors, and internal stakeholders on statutory audits, tax filings, and regulatory inquiries
• Identify opportunities to use AI tools and emerging technologies to improve finance processes, analyse datasets, enhance reconciliations, and automate reporting

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree or above in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• 5-10 years of experience in accounting and finance
• Strong accounting and finance experience in Japan, ideally including exposure to financial services or regulated entities
• Solid working knowledge of J-GAAP, account reconciliations, close processes, and Japanese statutory or regulatory reporting requirements
• Strong Excel skills and ability to prepare clear schedules, supporting documentation, variance analysis, and audit trails
• Understanding of Japanese business etiquette and ability to work effectively in a culturally diverse team
• Fluent level Japanese; proficient in English

Preferred requirements:

• Experience in a Big 4 accounting firm, financial institution, brokerage, securities firm, or capital markets environment
• Experience with FSA or JSDA reporting, statutory audits, tax filings, or regulatory inquiries in Japan
• Experience applying AI tools or emerging technologies to finance process improvement
• Possess a valid Japanese CPA, US CPA, ACCA, CA, or equivalent accounting qualification
