アプリケーションエンジニアマネージャー/ Application Engineering Manager

A global company in the adhesives and materials industry is seeking a Manager of Application Engineering. The selected candidate will lead the application engineering team, develop adhesive solutions, manage technical projects, support semiconductor-related applications, and drive long-term technical strategies.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct customer visits to understand application requirements, usage trends, and market competition
• Provide technical support through product recommendations, application demonstrations, and on-site troubleshooting
• Develop and implement adhesive solutions using application equipment to improve customer processes and performance
• Lead and manage the application engineering team to deliver key projects and achieve business objectives
• Develop technical capabilities within the team and build a strong talent pipeline
• Establish and execute long-term technical strategies aligned with business goals
• Oversee laboratory operations, customer sample prioritisation, and technical reporting
• Support customer and product development projects with expertise in semiconductor-related adhesive applications
• Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, Product Development, and global technical teams to identify new business opportunities and improve products
• Standardise technical documentation and maintain data consistency across platforms

Requirements:

• More than 3 years of experience as an Application Engineer in semiconductor, electronics, packaging, or adhesives
• More than 1 year of experience in project management or people management
• Hands-on customer-facing technical experience
• Ability and willingness to travel domestically and occasionally within Asia
• Native level Japanese; business level English

Preferred requirements:

• Experience managing a team
• Experience in semiconductor packaging, including image sensor, 5G, AI, automotive, or IC packaging
• Chemical background in polymers, materials, or adhesives
• Experience with adhesives, sealants, or functional materials
• Testing or laboratory experience
• Advanced hands-on experience with analysis or evaluation methods
