エンジニアリングマネージャー/ Engineering Manager

A global building solutions company is looking for an Engineering Manager and Design Engagement. The selected candidate will lead engineering, design engagement, certification, and technical business development activities while supporting market growth and ensuring compliance with engineering standards in Japan.

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with the Director Engineering and Design Engagement APAC, Sales Director Japan, and Managing Director APAC on business strategy, processes, and company development in Japan
• Align engineering priorities to achieve market growth through specification and engineering activities
• Support the registration of the company as an architectural firm to certify building structures
• Maintain and renew evaluations and certifications for nail plates and Posi Struts in Japan
• Promote engineered building solutions to the technical segment of the building supply chain
• Collaborate with Software, Marketing, and Sales teams to develop and deliver products and educational materials for the building supply chain
• Represent the company at industry events and deliver technical presentations when required
• Develop relationships with stakeholders across the residential, apartment, multi-residential, and mid-rise building supply chain
• Support collaboration between the company, fabricators, and home builders to improve building outcomes
• Maintain awareness of global developments that may benefit the Japanese market
• Identify educational and networking opportunities and recommend participation where appropriate

Requirements:

• Technical degree or diploma in Engineering, Architecture, or a related field
• Experience in residential building construction or a related field in Japan
• Class 1 Structural Engineer or Architect with experience in wood structures
• High level of knowledge of the Building Standards Act, Enforcement Orders, Enforcement Regulations, Notifications, AIJ Standard for Structural Design of Timber Structures, and JIS and JAS standards
• Ability and willingness to travel within Japan and internationally
• Possess a valid Japan driver's licence
• Business level Japanese and English

Preferred requirements:

• Possess a valid 1st Class Architect or equivalent designation
