Head of Accounting

A global precision equipment manufacturer is looking for a Head of Accounting. The selected candidate will lead accounting and consolidation operations, strengthen financial controls and processes, and support reporting, audits, treasury, and business transformation across the organisation. This is a hybrid role.

Responsibilities:

• Lead accounting and corporate consolidation teams across Japan and Singapore
• Oversee monthly closing, group consolidation, and financial reporting within required timelines
• Manage BPO delivery and drive accounting process transformation
• Provide IFRS guidance and serve as a technical resource for accounting teams
• Liaise with external auditors and lead global audit activities
• Strengthen accounting controls, processes, systems, and operational infrastructure
• Analyse financial results and variances, identify key drivers, and recommend corrective actions
• Prepare stakeholder analysis and actionable management reports
• Draft and implement accounting policies and memoranda in English
• Support treasury operations, banking relationships, credit cards, and signatory management
• Improve financial systems and business processes across multinational entities
• Harmonise accounting processes and tools across group companies
• Partner with FP&A on budgeting, forecasting, and submissions to the Japan head office
• Support M&A activities from an accounting perspective
• Participate in cross-functional meetings to resolve business issues
• Lead, mentor, and develop direct reports and colleagues

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree or above in finance or accounting (MBA is preferred)
• More than 7 years of financial accounting and controlling experience, including direct report supervision (international corporate setting is a plus)
• 6-8 years of experience in Big 4
• Experience executing / migrating ERPs
• Prior experience in collaborating with IT to drive software implementation
• Proven experience and expertise in working with BPO teams in Asia
• Understanding of SAP environment, building Excel models and use of A.I. and Business Intelligence tools (Power B.I)
• Fluent level English and Japanese

Preferred requirements:

• Possess valid CPA qualification
