EHSマネージャー/ EHS Manager

An international energy company is looking for an EHS Manager. The chosen applicant will lead HSE performance across a major offshore wind project, ensuring compliance, risk management, and safe project delivery.

Responsibilities:

• Drive total HSE performance across the project, including contractor performance and measurable risk reduction
• Lead the project HSE team and act as the central authority for all HSE matters
• Ensure full compliance with Japanese HSE laws and environmental regulations, providing structured HSE input
• Serve as the main contact for Japanese authorities, managing inspections, audits, and official communications
• Oversee HSE strategy across all phases, including development, construction, and handover, ensuring safe design, execution, and transition to operations
• Establish and enforce strong HSE standards while actively managing and challenging contractor and subcontractor performance
• Identify, assess, and mitigate risks, escalate critical issues, and implement the “We Care” HSE Management System
• Drive HSE performance, continuous improvement, proactive reporting, incident learning, and a strong safety culture

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree or above in Engineering, Occupational Safety, Environmental Management, or related field; NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent; ISO 45001/14001 auditor and incident investigation qualifications are advantageous
• More than 5 years in HSE roles within large-scale construction, infrastructure, or offshore/energy projects
• Proven experience in senior HSE leadership roles, including managing multi-contractor environments
• Experience across development and construction phases (complex offshore or energy projects is ideal)
• Strong understanding of Japanese HSE legislation and regulatory frameworks
• Strong leadership, stakeholder influence, risk-based decision-making, and ability to balance HSE with project delivery
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• Ability and willingness to travel
• Fluent level Japanese and English
