A global consumer products company is seeking a Director Public Affairs. The selected candidate will drive strategy development, stakeholder engagement, strategic communications, compliance oversight, cross-functional collaboration, and team development.

Responsibilities:

• Lead a team to develop CSR, ESG, and corporate equity strategies for sustainable long-term value creation
• Align strategies with the company’s vision, business objectives, and public policy strategies
• Evaluate and improve existing programmes and launch new programmes to address social issues and enhance corporate value
• Develop and deploy grassroots and activation campaigns to increase awareness and endorsement of corporate and policy objectives
• Steer the timely execution of approved strategies and campaigns in accordance with relevant laws, regulations, and internal policies
• Ensure compliance policies, standards, and legal requirements are understood and integrated across activities
• Build and maintain strategic relationships with policy influencers, industry partners, NPOs, NGOs, local communities, and government agencies
• Identify and develop relationships with civil society stakeholders and advocates
• Formulate and execute external communication strategies in collaboration with Corporate Communications
• Collaborate with internal departments and global and regional headquarters on strategy development, stakeholder engagement, and activations
• Develop high-performing teams through capability building, talent planning, cultural engagement, and organisational health
• Coach team members to strengthen strategic thinking, problem-solving, and critical skills

Requirements:

• Working experience in or around Japanese governments on regulatory compliance issues
• Understanding of the legal framework and politics of Japanese governments
• Proven capability as a project leader, including cross-functional teams and projects
• Strong business acumen with strategic and logical thinking
• Ability to influence and negotiate with others
• Fluent level Japanese and English
