EHSスペシャリスト/ EHS Specialist

An international science and technology organisation is seeking an EHS Specialist. The selected candidate will manage EHS programmes and safety performance, coordinate facility engineering activities, support compliance and incident prevention, and collaborate with local and global stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

• Lead and support site-level EHS activities to strengthen workplace safety, regulatory compliance, and operational stability
• Manage safety KPIs, including tracking, follow-up, and data-driven improvement of site safety performance
• Promote near-miss reporting, analyse trends, and lead follow-up actions
• Develop, review, and maintain risk assessments for warehouse operations, facility work, and workplace modifications
• Prepare and deliver EHS communications and presentations to site management and global stakeholders
• Lead or support incident investigations, corrective actions, safety patrols, and safety awareness initiatives
• Collaborate with regional and global EHS teams to align site activities with corporate standards, policies, and expectations
• Ensure compliance with regulations and company policies covering chemical handling, hazardous materials management, and site safety
• Track facility spending, prepare weekly and monthly reports, and lead cost-saving initiatives
• Coordinate facility and engineering activities with the Facility Engineering team, including maintenance, repairs, inspections, and vendor management
• Coordinate facility-related issues with internal stakeholders and external contractors to ensure timely follow-up and resolution
• Support facility modifications, equipment upgrades, and workplace improvement initiatives
• Engage at Gemba level to understand site conditions, identify risks, and drive practical and sustainable improvements

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree or above in a relevant field, or equivalent practical experience
• 3-5 years of experience in EHS, facility engineering, facility management, warehouse operations, or a related operational environment
• Experience in safety KPI management, near-miss reporting processes, and risk assessment development
• Experience preparing and presenting materials to global stakeholders in a professional business setting
• Hands-on experience in facility coordination, vendor management, maintenance follow-up, or engineering support
• Solid understanding of occupational safety principles, incident prevention methodologies, and risk management frameworks
• Practical understanding of building systems, utilities management, and site infrastructure maintenance
• Native level Japanese; business level English

Preferred requirements:

• Experience in chemical handling, hazardous materials management, and related compliance practices
• Possess a valid Japanese EHS certification such as Toxic and Deleterious Substances Handling Supervisor or Class 4 Hazardous Materials Handler
