グローバルトレードコンプライアンス/ Global Trade Compliance

An international material science company is looking for a Global Trade Compliance professional. The selected candidate will manage Japan trade compliance operations, including import and export activities, customs clearance, HS classification, export controls, regulatory compliance, and global process improvement. This is a hybrid setup role.

Responsibilities:

• Manage import and export customs clearance operations and provide instructions to customs brokers
• Respond to internal stakeholder enquiries regarding import and export requirements and business processes
• Classify products and assign HS codes, consulting customs authorities when necessary
• Perform origin determination activities under EPA and FTA requirements and issue Certificates of Origin
• Conduct security export control in accordance with Japan’s Foreign Exchange and Foreign Trade Act, U.S. Export Administration Regulations, and applicable regulations in other countries
• Perform export control classification and transaction screening and maintain related data in trade compliance systems
• Manage import and export transaction ledgers, evidence, and documentation
• Respond to customs post-entry audits and external audits
• Assess regulatory changes and support the establishment of appropriate internal control processes
• Manage import and export compliance issues and drive corrective actions
• Collaborate with overseas sites across APAC, the U.S., Europe, and China to identify and implement global process improvements

Requirements:

• More than 5 years of trade compliance experience at a business company
• More than 5 years of HS code classification experience at a business company
• Hands-on experience with HS code classification
• Experience proactively leading and managing overall control and management activities and/or projects
• Possess a valid STC Associate certification
• Native level Japanese; business level English

Preferred requirements:

• Knowledge of or practical experience with SAP S/4HANA, SAP TM, and SAP GTS
• Possess a valid STC Associate Advanced certification
• Possess a valid Licensed Customs Specialist / Customs Broker qualification
