Head of Communications

An international technical consulting and engineering services company is looking for a Head of Communications. The selected candidate will lead communication initiatives for the Japanese market, adapting and executing global strategies locally while supporting business objectives, recruitment, employer branding, and internal communications.

Responsibilities:

• Implement global communication guidelines while adapting messaging to the Japanese market
• Design and execute locally relevant communication campaigns
• Partner with HR and Talent Acquisition to strengthen employer branding and recruitment communications
• Collaborate with business teams on commercial priorities, events, and client-facing initiatives
• Drive internal communication strategies to engage employees with company values, mission, and culture
• Manage local media relations and prepare press releases
• Support thought leadership opportunities
• Create, adapt, and localise content across digital channels, social media, internal platforms, and events
• Monitor communication performance and measure impact
• Report communication insights to local and global stakeholders

Requirements:

• 5-7 years of experience in Communications, Public Relations, or related fields
• Strong understanding of the Japanese communication landscape, media environment, and storytelling practices
• Strong writing and content creation capabilities
• Proven project management skills
• Ability to balance global strategy with local market requirements
• Native level Japanese; business level English

Preferred requirements:

• Experience working within an international company or matrix organisation
• Experience in Employer Branding or Recruitment Communication
