シニア契約法務担当/ Senior Contracts Counsel

A multinational consulting firm is looking for a Senior Contracts Counsel. The successful candidate will provide legal advice on complex client and engagement matters, support commercial and technology-related arrangements, advise on compliance and risk, and provide legal guidance on artificial intelligence and data usage. This is a hybrid setup role.

Responsibilities:

• Provide legal advisory services to consultants across Asia, including Japan, on complex client issues
• Advise on engagement-related legal issues and complex arrangements including performance-based arrangements, technology deployments, and M&A
• Advise stakeholders on internal compliance and risk management in collaboration with senior Legal colleagues
• Collaborate with lawyers across Asia and the global Legal Department and liaise with Partners, Consulting teams, Risk, Compliance, Finance, Corporate Tax, Professional Development, Office and sector leadership, and local administrative leaders
• Provide proactive legal guidance on risks associated with technology deliverables and the development and deployment of Artificial Intelligence
• Provide balanced and risk-calibrated legal guidance to help mitigate risks in client service
• Drive collaboration across the Legal team and wider firm while supporting service excellence and commercial judgement
• Drive operational efficiencies in teamwork and legal service delivery
• Work across multiple jurisdictions in Asia and collaborate across different firm functions and capabilities
• Challenge conventional approaches and manage responsibilities effectively in a complex and largely autonomous environment

Requirements:

• More than 8 years of post-qualification private practice and/or in-house legal counsel experience focusing on commercial transactions, technology law, and intellectual property
• Knowledge of current technologies, cloud architecture, and artificial intelligence including LLMs, AI agents, and machine learning models
• Ability to operate independently in areas of legal uncertainty and support the business in navigating emerging risks and opportunities related to generative AI and data usage
• Experience drafting, revising, and negotiating commercial contracts including service agreements, confidentiality agreements, master consulting agreements, Statements of Work, independent consulting agreements, indemnity agreements, and M&A documents
• Ability to develop efficient approaches to processing commercial contracts and addressing new legal issues
• Ability to maintain and update contracts and related documents in accordance with departmental policies and procedures
• Ability to monitor and track contract flow volume and project compliance, including reporting on trends
• Ability to coach and support paralegals on contract-related and other responsibilities
• Experience with RFP review and response
• Possess a valid qualification to practise law in Japan, the US, the UK, or Australia
• Proficient in English and Japanese

Preferred requirements:

• Proficient in an Asian language, including Mandarin, Korean, or Bahasa
