コーポレートカウンセル/ Corporate Counsel

A leading collectibles and authentication company is seeking a Corporate Counsel. The selected candidate will support the General Counsel, US-based legal team, General Manager and senior leaders in managing the Japan office’s legal needs. This is a hybrid setup role.

Responsibilities:

• Review and prepare commercial agreements including SaaS and technology services agreements, marketing, sponsorship and influencer agreements, IP licences and leases
• Advise on Japanese consumer protection topics related to marketing and product initiatives
• Advise on labour and employment-related legal issues
• Support the company’s intellectual property portfolio in Japan
• Investigate customer complaints and work towards early resolution in partnership with Customer Service and Customer Resolution Centre teams
• Support the company’s litigation docket by working with outside counsel to manage and resolve litigation matters
• Maintain and update company policies in compliance with applicable laws
• Maintain organised settlement and release agreement forms and work with outside counsel to develop new or update existing forms in response to business needs
• Leverage legal technology, including AI tools, to improve efficiency in contract review, workflows, research and internal knowledge management
• Cultivate strong relationships with internal and external business partners, including Product, Technology, Accounting, Finance and Customer Resolution Centre teams, to identify and resolve issues

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree or above in law
• 3-5 years of experience as an attorney
• Ability to work well under pressure and collaborate with company employees, executives and outside counsel
• A lawyer duly licensed and in good standing to practise law in Japan
• Fluent level Japanese and English

Preferred requirements:

• Interest in the card, coin or collectibles industry
• Some in-house experience
• Experience working with English-speaking clients
