Supporting ‘Global Business Case Competition’
Robert Walters Japan will serve as sponsor for a “Global Business Case Competition,” the company announced on May 18. The event is to be held by the Student Executive Committee of Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University with the university’s cooperation.
The Audi and Robert Walters Global Business Case Competition 2015 is a six-day program from June 9 to 14. This will be an unprecedented event for Japan -- a competition on business cases conducted completely in English for university undergraduates attending business schools throughout the world. Fifteen teams from universities in China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, the Philippines, New Zealand, Singapore, Thailand and the United States will be participating in the event. They will be given business cases and then asked to come up with solutions within a set amount of time.
“Students from around the world are going to compete, and we are extremely grateful that this kind of event, with the cooperation of global companies, is going to be held here,” said Toshitsugu Otake, Dean of the College of International Management at Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University (APU). “This is probably the greatest type of learning opportunity for the students at our university.”
APU is moving forward in its endeavours to nurture global human resources, as one of Japan’s “super global universities,” a project set up by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology. By supporting APU’s efforts, Robert Walters Japan wants to contribute to the human-resource development of students who will become the business leaders of the future.
“We have 10 people in our office who are graduates of Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University,” said David Swan, Managing Director of Robert Walters Japan. “As we are a bilingual-specialist recruitment agency, we consider it a great honour to be able to support this competition, from the standpoint of assisting in career development for the younger generation with a global mindset.”
Swan will be delivering the keynote address at the competition’s opening ceremony. In addition, the company is planning for one of its employees who studied at APU to visit the campus location of Oita in the role of judge for the competition.
