Automation Machine Design Engineer

A global electronics manufacturer is looking for an Automation Machine Design Engineer. The selected candidate will design manufacturing processes, automation equipment and fixtures while developing robotic and mechatronic solutions to improve production efficiency.

Responsibilities:

• Design assembly processes and manufacturing operations for global production sites
• Develop bench-top equipment and fixtures for manual, semi-automated and hybrid production lines
• Create automation concepts and detailed machine and system designs
• Promote and implement robotic automation solutions
• Propose process improvements using sensor technologies and control systems
• Explore AI applications to enhance manufacturing processes

Requirements:

• Experience in Automation engineering roles (creating concrete machine concept to automate existing manual process)
• 5-10 years of relevant experience
• Prior experience in hardware design and/or drafting using 3D CAD for automation equipment, especially auto assembly and/or inspection machines for small devices
• Native level Japanese; business level English (Chinese, Spanish, Korean, Vietnamese are a plus)

Preferred requirements:

• Experience improving manual process by changing methodologies, modifying layout and redesigning tools and fixtures
• Prior experience at oversea sites (launching equipment, training local engineers and operators, leading local projects etc.)
• Proven experience utilising robotics and advanced mechatronics
