機械エンジニア/ Mechanical Engineer
A leading quantum computing company is looking for a Mechanical Engineer - Hardware Integration and Reliability. The selected candidate will design, prototype, integrate, and maintain precision mechanical systems for next-generation quantum computing hardware while coordinating with global engineering teams and local suppliers.
Responsibilities:
- Design precision mechanical assemblies including frames, mounts, enclosures, opto-mechanical hardware, and shrouds
- Update and manage CAD models and 2D drawings for the Gemini system at AIST
- Design and install water cooling loops, leak containment systems, and thermal management solutions
- Design and install laser safety engineering controls including beam shrouds, beam blocks, and light-tight enclosures
- Identify performance, safety, and ergonomics issues and implement practical solutions
- Inspect, assemble, and install quantum computer modules and unit testing benches
- Coordinate with Japanese machine shops and contract manufacturers to support component validation
- Apply DfM/DfA methodologies and maintain technical documentation including specifications, drawings, and maintenance instructions
- Perform hands-on technical work including wiring, assembling, cleaning, deburring, and small fabrication fixes
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering
- Experience designing precision mechanical systems
- Hands-on prototyping and laboratory experience
- Proficiency in Autodesk Inventor or comparable 3D CAD software
- Strong knowledge of structural mechanics, tolerancing, materials, manufacturing, and thermal management
- Ability to work with shop tools, benchwork, and installation of mechanical designs
- Professional level Japanese and English
Preferred requirements:
- Experience with scientific instrumentation, precision optics, opto-mechanical design, optics, lasers, and laser safety
- Experience in thermal management, liquid cooling, power electronics, GD&T, and PDM/PLM
- Experience applying DfM/DfA methodologies and working with machine shops in Japan
- Experience working within international and distributed engineering teams
