給与担当マネージャー/ Payroll Manager
A renowned pharmaceutical company is looking for a Payroll Manager. The chosen candidate will manage payroll operations and employee benefits administration in Japan, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely delivery.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee end-to-end payroll processing for Japan in collaboration with external payroll vendors
- Validate payroll inputs and outputs, including salaries, bonuses, deductions, and statutory contributions
- Ensure timely and accurate payroll execution in compliance with Japanese labour laws and tax regulations
- Manage the payroll calendar and ensure adherence to processing deadlines
- Review and approve payroll reports, reconciliations, and payroll controls
- Serve as the primary point of contact for payroll vendors in Japan
- Monitor vendor performance against SLAs and KPIs and coordinate process improvements
- Manage local employee benefits, including health insurance, pensions, leave, and other statutory and non-statutory programs
- Coordinate benefits enrolment, changes, and terminations with external providers
- Support employees by resolving payroll and benefits-related inquiries and escalations
- Ensure payroll and benefits processes comply with Japanese labour laws, tax regulations, and internal policies
- Prepare and submit statutory filings and reports, including year-end tax adjustments and social insurance
- Support internal and external payroll and benefits audits
- Partner with HR, Finance, and Legal teams to align payroll and benefits processes with business needs
- Provide guidance and training to HR business partners and managers on payroll and benefits matters
- Support employee lifecycle events, including onboarding, transfers, and exits, from a payroll and benefits perspective
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or above in HR, Finance, Business Administration, or related field
- More than 10 years of experience in Japan payroll and benefits administration
- Experience working with payroll vendors and managing outsourced payroll operations
- Strong knowledge of Japanese labour laws, tax regulations, and statutory benefits
- Proficient in payroll systems and MS Excel
- Proficient in Japanese and English
Preferred Requirements:
- Experience in a multinational company or regional payroll role
- Familiarity with Workday, SAP, or other HRIS platforms
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders
