Head of Audit Japan

A global reinsurance company is looking for a Head of Audit Japan. The selected candidate will lead risk-based audits, provide insights to senior stakeholders, and support strategic audit initiatives.

Responsibilities:

• Lead risk assessment processes to identify control issues and ensure audit coverage
• Manage end-to-end audit tasks including planning, fieldwork, and reporting
• Deliver audit reports with clear insights for senior stakeholders
• Apply audit methodology effectively across processes
• Support audit leadership in governance and regulatory engagements
• Build strong stakeholder relationships to address emerging risks

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree or above in accounting, business, or finance
• 8-12 years of experience in external or internal audit
• Experience in external audit with a Big 4 is ideal
• Prior experience in reinsurance audits, or internal auditing a reinsurance organisation is preferred
• Knowledge of internal audit methodologies and current and emerging issues for the reinsurance industry (Asia)
• Understanding of reinsurance (L&H and P&C), and its governance, risks and controls, especially in actuarial, finance, and other technical domains (costing, claims, underwriting, reserving, ESG, IFRS 17, RBC, JGAAP)
• Knowledge of local insurance regulations in Japan
• Familiarity with regulations in APAC is a plus
• Proficient inn MS Office Suite or data analytics software (Python, R, SQL, SAS)
• Possess valid CPA, CA, CIA, or CISA certification is a plus
• Proficient in written and verbal English and Japanese
