Sponsor of the National Art Center,Tokyo
Robert Walters Japan has decided to provide support for the management of the National Art Center, Tokyo, the company announced on March 31.
Serving as a sponsor for the art museum is one of several global initiatives for the Robert Walters Group. Its head office in the UK has provided support for other art museums, including the Victoria and Albert Museum and the Saatchi Gallery in London. The latest decision marks one of the Group’s most extensive art-related support initiatives.
Robert Walters Japan puts great effort into its sponsorship activities. The assistance for the National Art Center, Tokyo, follows a contract signed last year for the company to serve as an official supplier to the Japan Rugby Football Union.
“The National Art Center, Tokyo is a hub for nurturing art and culture and transmitting art-related information. It is carrying out exhibition activities and other efforts that delve into a variety of different fields to fulfil these roles,” said Tamotsu Aoki, the museum’s Director General.
“Through the extensive support we kindly received just recently from Robert Walters Japan, we intend that the activities will continue going forward. We will strive so that our art museum becomes acclaimed for being one of the most fascinating in the world.”
David Swan, Managing Director at Robert Walters Japan, says: “We are extremely happy to add our name as the first foreign-owned company to sponsor The National Art Center, Tokyo. As an art centre boasting one of the largest exhibition spaces in Japan, the museum introduces the fine arts to the public, offering the opportunity for people to come into contact with a variety of perspectives, while it is also focused on educational projects. We would also be happy to contribute to human-resource development, having the chance to support these endeavours.”
Swan explained the background to the latest support initiative. “If you look at the recruitment industry, you won’t find many other examples of organizations or companies that sponsor art or sports –fields that differ from their own industry,” he said. “However, we think we can further strengthen our ties with candidates and clients, while also building a unique brand strength that sets us apart from other companies.”
Robert Walters Japan will be making contributions to support the arts and human-resource development going forward, through announcements of the various exhibitions held at The National Art Center, Tokyo, invitations to exhibits, events at art museums and other activities.

The facility opened in January 2007, becoming Japan’s fifth national art museum. Its distinction lies in how it serves as a new type of art museum, rather than for having collections. It plays the role of an art centre, by compiling, releasing as well as providing art-related information and materials, and by spreading education. In addition, the museum holds a wide range of exhibits that make the best use of one of the country’s largest exhibition spaces of 1,400 m2. From its location in Tokyo, an international metropolis that brings together people, things and information from far and near, the museum introduces the public to the fine arts and offers people the opportunity to come into contact with a variety of perspectives, as it contributes to the creation of a new culture from the viewpoints of mutual understanding and co-existence.
