マーチャンダイジングディレクター/ MD Director

A foreign luxury fashion brand is looking for an MD Director. The chosen applicant will lead the merchandising strategy for the Japanese market, aligning global brand guidelines with local market needs.

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate closely with international headquarters on product assortment, pricing, and allocation strategy
• Partner with the MD Manager to drive the buying strategy, proposing the optimal product mix based on market demand, historical sales data, and trends
• Optimise profitability and inventory turnover through effective category planning, pricing strategy, and lifecycle management
• Mentor and develop one MD Manager, supporting team growth and continuous improvement
• Work closely with the Retail team to ensure alignment between product storytelling and sales initiatives
• Analyse sales performance, inventory status, and competitor activity to make in-season adjustments and identify future business opportunities
• Participate in global merchandising meetings and represent the Japan/Korea market by providing relevant feedback
• Oversee product presentation in line with Visual Merchandising (VMD) guidelines

Requirements:

• More than 8 years of Merchandising experience (luxury fashion or footwear industry is preferred)
• Deep understanding of Japanese luxury consumer behaviour and retail trends
• Experience working with overseas headquarters or global teams
• Strong analytical skills and commercial mindset with data-driven decision-making ability
• Knowledge or experience in PR or marketing is desirable
• Proficient in Japanese and English; business level Korean is a plus
