Robert Walters Japan supports the development of global talent by establishing scholarship program in Rikkyo University
TOKYO, October, 23, 2019 – Specialist professional recruitment firm Robert Walters announced the establishment of the Robert Walters Japan Scholarship in Rikkyo University’s College of Tourism.
As a recruitment consultancy, Robert Walters Japan has worked to support bilingual professionals with expert skills and a sharp sense for global business in developing their careers. As part of these activities, the company has today established a scholarship system for students at Rikkyo University’s College of Tourism with the aim of undertaking an initiative to develop world-class global talent in Japan by partnering with the school.
Regarding the implementation of the scholarship, Jeremy Sampson, Managing Director at Robert Walters Japan, said “there is currently a shortage of global talent in Japan – people with a global mindset with English proficiency and have highly specialized skills and experiences. At Robert Walters Japan, we have explored opportunities in the development of talented professionals who meet the demands of foreign-affiliated companies in Japan and domestic companies who are expanding their business overseas. Japan’s tourism industry is gaining momentum due to the increasing number of tourists from abroad, the Tokyo Olympics, the Osaka Expo, and the possibility of IR. With the expectation of further internationalization and growth in the tourism industry, students from the Rikkyo University’s College of Tourism can use the Robert Walters Japan Scholarship to study at the University of Essex in the UK and receive world-class practical education, develop a global perspective, gain English language skills and become global talent.
Toshiya Hashimoto, Dean of Rikkyo University’s College of Tourism, said “as a university that has a leading role in advancing the globalization of Japanese society, Rikkyo University is recognized by the Top Global University Project, sponsored by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology. By communicating with universities in Europe, the U.S., and other locations around the world, the university promotes world-standard education and global talent development. In addition to its tradition in liberal arts education, the university conducts other unique educational initiatives in the tourism field. We see the establishment of the Robert Walters Japan Scholarship as recognition of these initiatives that we have carried out to date.”
