Head of Finance

A multinational reinsurance company is looking for a Vice President – Head of Finance. The selected candidate will lead financial oversight, drive compliance, and partner with business leaders to ensure sustainable growth and regulatory excellence.

Responsibilities:

• Represent the branch in regulatory and stakeholder interactions as Finance Head
• Provide high-quality financial information and contribute as a management team member
• Lead, coach, and develop the finance team to build a strong performance culture
• Ensure governance, compliance, and adherence to Japanese laws, regulations, and group policies
• Drive strategic projects, including subledger transition and automation initiatives
• Maintain and strengthen relationships with Japanese regulatory authorities
• Collaborate with Group Treasury on efficient capital management
• Lead process improvements and system enhancements to meet future business needs

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
• More than 15 years of experience in financial/accounting functions, including team management
• Proven experience with Japanese statutory accounting, insurance laws, and tax regulations
• Experience managing relationships with regulatory authorities
• Knowledge of IFRS 17
• Expertise in the insurance sector with strong knowledge of RBC/ESR
• Multi-disciplinary finance expertise across accounting, treasury, planning, and taxation
• Possess a valid CPA or equivalent qualification
• Native level Japanese; proficient in English
