Head of QA

A global manufacturing company is seeking a Head of QA. The selected candidate will drive quality excellence across manufacturing, products, and customer relations while aligning Japan’s initiatives with global standards. This is a hybrid position.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and execute Japan’s quality strategy in alignment with global systems and standards
• Oversee manufacturing quality assurance, end-of-line testing, and process capability improvements
• Collaborate with R&D and Engineering to implement design-for-quality principles and preventive systems
• Manage key quality KPIs including yield, defect rates, and quality costs
• Lead customer quality activities such as issue resolution, VOC management, and APQP/PPAP planning
• Build and mentor a high-performing quality team and promote a culture of accountability and continuous improvement

Requirements:

• More than 15 years of experience in EV battery quality, manufacturing quality, or customer quality management
• Experience launching or scaling Gen5 battery technology or related advanced products is a plus
• Prior international work experience or leadership in a global matrix organisation is a plus
• Background in managing OEM quality relationships (Japanese automotive customers)
• Knowledge of automotive quality standards tools
• Business level English; professional level Japanese (fluent in Chinese is preferred)
