A global leader in the interactive entertainment industry is looking for a Senior Patent Corporate Counsel. The selected candidate will lead patent team, supporting patent portfolio development, licencing, and enforcement. This is a hybrid setup role.

Responsibilities:

• Develop global patent portfolio, including invention intake, review, and strategic management
• Lead and mentor the Tokyo patent team to achieve high performance and growth
• Oversee patent preparation and prosecution managed by Tokyo's team and outside counsel
• Drive innovation sourcing activities and workshops to expand the patent portfolio
• Advise leadership on patent strategy and relevant technical trends
• Provide training for business and legal teams in Japan on patent-related issues
• Build strong partnerships with engineering, product management, and legal teams
• Support the improvement of global patent processes
• Manage the budget for APAC patent activities

Requirements:

• More than 10 years of experience in patent law
• More than 3 years of experience as a people manager
• Practical experience in managing a global patent portfolio in an in-house legal setting
• Experience in IP litigation
• Familiarity with U.S. patent prosecution and licencing practices
• Background in drafting and negotiating IP-related agreements, including trademarks and copyrights
• Possess a valid qualification as Patent Attorney in Japan (JPAA) or the United States (USPTO)
• Fluent level written and verbal Japanese and English
