日本コンプライアンス・規制リード/ Japan Compliance and Regulatory Lead

A global financial services company is looking for a Japan Compliance and Regulatory Lead. The selected candidate will lead licensing readiness, regulatory engagement, and post-license compliance operations to support the safe and compliant launch and expansion of the Japan branch.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the foreign bank branch license application plan, timeline, and key deliverables
• Build compliance, governance, risk, outsourcing, and control frameworks for regulatory readiness
• Coordinate legal and regulatory advisors while managing internal execution and documentation
• Prepare regulator-ready materials and oversee inquiry tracking, evidence management, and document control
• Advise on Type I licensing strategy, staffing needs, and early compliance hiring requirements
• Establish ongoing compliance leadership, monitoring, reporting, and regulator coordination after license approval

Requirements:

• Experience engaging with the Japan FSA in a professional capacity
• Background in Licensing applications or approvals
• Prior background in regulatory examinations support
• Proven background in building or running compliance and internal control programs in regulated financial services
• Knowledge of governance, internal controls, and compliance program design
• Professional level written and spoken Japanese

Preferred requirements:

• Prior banking operations experience or correspondent banking exposure
• Proven experience with foreign bank branch frameworks, banking supervision, or branch establishment processes in Japan
• Knowledge with payments regulation and funds transfer licensing categories, including Type I related considerations
• Professional level English
