受託製造ソーシングマネージャー/ Contract Manufacturing Sourcing Manager

An international food manufacturer is seeking a Contract Manufacturing Sourcing Manager. The selected candidate will drive sourcing activities and manage supplier relationships to support growth ambitions and ensure supply chain continuity. This is a hybrid role.

Responsibilities:

  • Driving OGSM 2030 growth ambition by connecting with key market stakeholder to understand shortand long-term project pipeline that match with Japan External Manufacturing capabilities with support from LM.
  • Ensure successful delivery of finished goods sourcing through External Manufacturing activities.
  • Engage with internal stakeholder from marketing, supply, development, Finance and quality assurance team.
  • Manage Japan External Manufacturing supply chain to ensure supply chain continuity.
  • Ensure the efficient and effective execution of the sourcing strategy in his/her region or unit
  • Execute sourcing strategy through the development of new suppliers or specifications
  • Manage negotiations of existing External Manufacturing products to achieve Mars Japan as well as Global External Manufacturing team business goal.
  • Ensure compliance to Mars sustainability ambition for Japan External Manufacturing portfolio
  • Support the External Manufacturing COGs initiatives (Cost saving program).
  • Lead and identify day to day operation efficiency improvement program.
  • Provide the first line of escalation on potential business impact or supply disruption.
  • Manage SRM(Supplier Relationship Management) program with Japan External Manufacturing.
  • Bridging Japan business unit need to Global External Manufacturing team. Act as team champion to manage Mars Japan internal stakeholder for External Manufacturing related discussion.
  • The role is based at Japan with regular travel to related suppliers in Japan or occasionally to the customer units

Business development [1st Priority]

  • Connecting with market stakeholder to map customer demand with Japan External Manufacturing capability to support Mars Japan ambition (OGSM 2030) and supporting Global External Manufacturing business goal (from 650 to 1,000 MUSD NSV in 2030).
  • Works with other functions and drive through External Manufacturing buyer to support new product launches, line extensions, and execution of continuous improvement program with regards to raw and packaging materials (or specified items i.e. co-manufacturing)
  • Acts as the liaison between External Manufacturers and the sourcing managers to implement changes of business needs (e.g. specification, volume changes, etc.)
  • Co-leading future External Manufacturing innovation/localization (Mars innovation transformation) with internal key stakeholders like Marketing, R&D, SCM, Finance.
  • Explore opportunities for other external manufacturer in Japan including new RM sourcing model development which have capability that match with Mars future innovation pipeline.
  • Supporting new business model/scheme/P2P operational process for innovation/localization/Export project including RM/Pack sourcing model development locally/internally depending on needs of projects with External Manufacturer

COGs transformation and Price risk management [2nd priority]

  • Support COGs transformation program of Japan External Manufacturing and effectively execute the deliveries of the program. Own the gap analysis and identify the action to deliver program target.
  • Cost structure analysis for the External Manufacturing products to drive fit for purpose and creating higher value proposition for the business
  • Effective management of the direct materials budget against the operating plan budget. This includes analyzing PPV and work with sourcing buyer/ manager to identify the action plan to close the gap.
  • Identify suppliers, negotiate, and manage pricing agreements for local materials (as assigned), support preliminary supplier audits and review supplier qualifications in conjunction done by the EMQA team
  • Partner closely with direct material Sourcing Managers to provide input to the Category Strategy and to align the strategic sourcing initiatives

Supply Chain and supplier relationship Management

  • Enhance engagement with External Manufacturing/Suppliers to deliver profitable innovations/localizations
  • Co-Develop supply chain to support new market launch and ensure reliable operation.
  • Provide necessary analysis incorporating storage and handling costs into buying strategies and decisions
  • Ensure that the day to day running of the co-manufacturing operational activity (logistics, planning, activity management, reporting and order placing by the units) are fulfilled on time and to support the internal customers’ requirements.
  • Support Order management by SCM from Mars market-units for External Manufacturing items.
  • Ensure S&OP process with key market are activated.
  • Monitor demand forecast and identify potential issues.
  • Escalate supply disruption risk to market unit and manage risk mitigation actions.
  • Carries out supplier performance review on a regular basis for the relevant External Manufacturing
  • Analyses supplier service levels and working capital data to determine opportunities for continuous improvements and to drive compliance to Mars standards
  • Develops continuous improvement action plan and executes. Monitors changes and adjusts plan as needed to sustain performance results.
  • Partnering with the customer unit team / suppliers to minimize inventory levels, optimizes the inbound supply chain
  • Identify and manages supplier collaboration initiatives (e.g. supplier owned inventory, forecast management of each direct materials, electronic invoicing, operational process streamlining, etc.)
  • C&T has various overseas import regulations, this role needs to collaborate with SRA, R&D to ensure successful project delivery.

Activity Management

  • Be a champion of the supply activity management process, supporting tools and continuous process improvement by linking to the regional / Unit and External Manufacturing teams
  • Drive to implement according to QUEST process and to ensure fit with the regional and customer units’ S&OP process.
  • Supply Activity Management and delivery from concept through to supply from External Manufacturing to agreed lead times and targets to meet Operating Plan objectives.
  • Ensure that task owners within activities do deliver their tasks to agreed timelines
  • Initiate activity timeline and agree with stakeholders
  • Own and facilitate the periodical External Manufacturing Meeting as stage gate meeting
  • Update internal customers on project status when required

Where necessary, Manage Operations to support applicable raw materials

  • Consolidate demand and manage external manufacturer capacity
  • Review contractual agreement with buyers
  • Support External Manufacturing related supply solutions exploration (RM/Package/Manufacturing equipment etc)

Requirements:

  • Education & Professional Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree, ideally in Supply Chain, Engineering or Business Management. Substantial prior business experience including supplier management, commercial/ purchasing/business management function.
  • Knowledge / Experience
  • At least 2-4 years of working experience in a commercial or business management role
  • Good analytical skills and ability to make sound business decisions in complex and ambiguous business environments
  • The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor’s degree program in a related field.
  • Ability to develop and implement commercial and business strategies to gain a competitive advantage
  • Possess strong leadership, negotiating, and interpersonal skills in order to be effective in both the internal and external environments
  • Projecting strong leadership (e.g. Difficult situations, large groups)
  • Able to manage S&OP process with internal and external stakeholder(Activity Management)
  • Japanese and English verbal and written communication skills are mandatory, preferably be Japanese people since most supplier in Japan cannot speak in English and this person need to be able to connect with overseas exporting countries to develop and maintain Japan External manufacturing business.
  • Ability to travel 30 – 40% of the time
