フィールドエンジニア/ Field Engineer
A foreign manufacturing company is searching for a Field Engineer. The chosen applicant will provide technical support for defence projects, ensuring product performance, resolving customer issues, and supporting delivery, testing, and customer engagement activities.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for engineering and quality-related queries concerning products, taking full ownership of customer-reported issues affecting in-service products and systems, and providing expert technical assistance as needed
- Deliver comprehensive technical support to customers onsite and remotely, including troubleshooting, fault investigation, repair, and rework at customer locations, and prepare detailed reports on product issues and maintenance activities
- Collaborate closely with internal engineering and support teams in Japan and global factories to escalate and resolve complex technical challenges
- Represent the company in technical discussions with customers, acting as an effective liaison between customers and factories, and accurately relay customer requirements, feedback, and inquiries, including interpretation as necessary
- Participate in pre-shipment inspections at global factories alongside customer inspectors, and organise pre-delivery inspections in warehouses in Japan with or without customers before product delivery
- Deliver practical, hands-on training and guidance to customers to ensure proper usage and maintenance of products
- Conduct and support testing activities in accordance with specifications
- Manage product demonstrations for solutions as part of pre-sales activities
- Contribute to the sharing, management, and capitalisation of technical knowledge within the company
- Support project managers in ensuring the on-time delivery of products and associated test records to customers
- Maintain and update technical documentation, including test records, drawings, procedures, and incident reports
- Accurately document service activities, identify issues, and technical solutions with a strong emphasis on accuracy, clarity, and detail
- Build and maintain strong, professional relationships with customers and partners to foster trust and collaboration
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or above in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, telecommunications, computer science, or a related field
- More than 3 years of experience in field support, technical service, or a similar role
- Hands-on experience and technical proficiency with electronics, optronics, sonar, radar, radio, or telecommunication equipment and systems
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively manage communication with internal and external stakeholders
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment
- Ability and willingness to travel
- Possess a valid Japanese driver’s license
- Native level Japanese; advanced level written and verbal English
Preferred Requirements:
- Basic understanding and practical knowledge of TCP/IP protocols and networking systems, including switches, routers, and firewalls; experience with network design and equipment configuration
